ABC Legal Services Data Breach Class Action Settlement

ABC Legal Services, a company that provides services for serving legal documents such as subpoenas and complaints, agreed to a $2.5 million class action settlement. This action addresses a data breach that was discovered in November 2024, reportedly occurring in August 2024. The compromised sensitive data included names, contact details, Social Security numbers, financial account information, and driver’s license data.

The plaintiffs alleged that the company failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures to prevent the breach and further claimed that ABC Legal Services delayed informing consumers about the compromise by three months. The claims involve the failure to protect personal information and the delay in notification, though ABC Legal Services has not admitted any wrongdoing.

Class members can receive a cash payment and reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses, with potential reimbursement up to $5,000 for documented losses. All members are entitled to two years of free credit monitoring services through IDX. To receive benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by September 28, 2026, as the deadline for exclusion and objection is August 28, 2026.
