Conduent Data Breach Proposed Settlement
Case Overview
Conduent Business Services has agreed to a proposed $80 million class action settlement concerning a significant data breach. Plaintiffs claim that the company's negligence allowed unauthorized access to its IT network from October 2024 until the breach was discovered in January 2025. The exposed data reportedly included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and medical and health insurance information.
The claims assert that Conduent failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures and was negligent in its disclosure, allegedly waiting nine months to publicly announce the incident. The lawsuit is based on allegations of failing to protect sensitive personal and health information and providing timely notice to those affected.
The proposed settlement offers class members up to $3,500 for documented losses related to fraud or identity theft, and certain members may receive a pro rata cash payment. All class members will receive free credit or medical data monitoring, though cash benefits require filing a valid claim. The proposed deadline to file a claim is 75 days after the notice process begins, pending court approval.
